Margo’s Book Reviews

I am always looking for more information to share about quality of life issues for adult parents, as well as the stories of families who are navigating these circumstances. I often find the greatest insights and inspiration from the work of fellow authors, and am pleased share some of my reviews with you here.

Driving Miss Norma: One Family’s Journey Saying “Yes” to Living

When Tim Bauerschmidt’s mother was told she had cancer her answer was “I’m 90 years old, I’m hitting the road”.   She had been invited to travel the country with her son and daughter-in-law in their RV.  To Norma, there was no choice.  Although she had been a quiet housewife, she chose the unexpected.  She chose life.

It wasn’t an easy trip at first, Norma was on a lot of meds and unstable on her feet.  In Colorado they discovered medicinal marijuana and eventually was able to get off of her meds.  Because of Facebook she became nationally known which led to many invitations and adventures.

It a heartwarming tale of how to live life to the end, renewing relationships, and change.  Even though their situation is very unusual, there are lessons in here for all caretakers that can be applied to all.

Yes. I know, you don’t have a lot of time to read, but this one also comes audio version and can be bought on Audible.com.  You can listen while driving or cleaning the kitchen.  Well worth it.
